WADK's Talk Show Tradition continues.....

After the passing of long-time talk-show host Bob Sullivan in July of 2007, WADK faced one of the biggest challenges in its broadcast history: how to maintain a midday talk-show tradition that Newport County listeners have enjoyed since the early 50's.

Since its inception, WADK's "Open Forum" has served as a sounding board for locals to express their thoughts and opinions.

The focus of nearly six decades of conversation has usually been local issues although national and worldwide topics have received their share of the attention.  The goal of our "Open Forum" has always been community involvement and community awareness.  And now, thanks to community leaders, that purpose has been preserved.

Every Monday through Friday afternoon from 12:30 to 2:00, WADK is proud to present a diversity of guest hosts that help maintain the "Open Forum" tradition.  Talk-show veteran and former Middletown councilman Mike Kehew; local attorney and former Newport office-holder Andre D'Andrea; current Newport City Councilor Jeanne Marie Napolitano;  Evan Smith, President of the Newport County Convention and Visitors Bureau; and local musician/political pundit Kevin Sullivan lead the list of our recurring hosts.  Local city and town officials as well as area state legislators also serve as occasional hosts.   The Newport County Chamber of Commerce presents a monthly program as does Robert Bailey who hosts "Marketing and Money" where active solutions for running a business are discussed.

Thanks to all these community-minded individuals, the "Open Forum" legacy continues.   WADK appreciates all of you who listen in and we encourage you to call in.  Our talk-show line is (401) 846-1028.
